Production Update #15: Prop Request

We’re hoping to assemble our principals and shoot on Friday Sept 17 at Bob Sapora’s old bank barn outside Westminster, MD from 2pm - 10pm. I'll email again if we have enough cast and crew to proceed.

In the meantime, I'm hoping to find a rock climbing or rappelling harness for this interior scene. Any leads would be appreciated. (I will be the one wearing the harness for the shot.)

Production Update #14: Summer Wrap-up

Just wanted to once again thank everyone who so graciously donated their sweat, time, and creativity this summer for our on-going feature film project. Here's where we stand:

I just finished editing every frame of footage we shot this summer, and we now have -- fanfare, please! -- 12 minutes of the final movie completely finished; that is, I've already "fine cut" all the shots as they will appear in the polished feature. 12 minutes! That's quite an accomplishment considering we've only been in principal photography for 4 1/2 days...  If it helps, think of it like this: We are exactly one-sixth of the way to a whole 72 minute feature....

We plan to continue shooting throughout the fall and spring (interiors, mostly), so I'll continue to send out emails like this to keep you updated. And, as always, if you are available, we'd love to have you join us on the ever-expanding crew.

Take care. And if any member of the talent or crew wishes to see the cut sequences, please let me know and we will arrange a screening. Thanks so much. It's been a blast!

Let's keep rolling...

Production Update #13: Thanks!

Wow! What a whirlwind weekend! We shot roughly 750 feet of film stock on Saturday from 1pm until 11pm ... and on Sunday from 11am until 1 pm. Everyone will be sleeping well tonight.

So I want to thank our crew of 9 who made this day a success. I'll drive the film to the lab in Rockville, MD on Monday, so keep your fingers crossed that everything will come out looking excellent.

Special thanks to:

Bob Sapora--for focus & light metering & patience above and beyond the call...

Gordon Masters--for working a full day at a real job in Annapolis, then driving to meet us on location and working well into the night...

Novia Campbell--for spending an entire, sweat-drenched day in a wedding dress in desperate need of dry cleaning...

Charles Crum--for being the "Radar O'Reilly" of the crew... taking care of so many tasks BEFORE we even realized that they needed to be done... and for tracking down Novia in that high-speed, cross-country chase...

Gergely Horvath--for working a full day on Saturday, and then dragging yourself out of bed on Sunday for still more shooting

Naomi Bari--for always having that battery belt ready to slip over the tripod...

Deana Villani--for driving all the way from Richmond, Virginia to give us a hand... and for always having your hands full of some kind of camera gear whenever we needed it...

Debra Gibson-- for expert traffic direction and "hot-wiring" my car...(and the shi-shi cherries...)

Carol Sapora-- for potato salad and white wine at sunset...

No shooting this weekend... but stay tuned for info on when we will screen the footage we just shot...

And once again, thanks so much for everyone's A+++ effort. It's days like these that independent filmmakers live for.

A meal will be provided (cookout @ Sapora's)... and we will also have a supply of cold water available on location.

In order to shoot everything we need to on Saturday, we will have to travel light and shoot quickly. In Lineboro, we will pile into as few cars as we can. If you have a cell phone, bring it. But be aware that some of the places we will be filming have little or no cell coverage.

The summer is flying by fast. Let's get another awesome day of shooting under our belt!
